Wasteful ways
There is a well know mantra about waste. In order of priority we should: reduce, repair, reuse, recycle and only that dispose. ut if we are going to produce less rubbish, we have to change our psyche. We think nothing obout buying disposable cameras, barbecues, plastic nappies and packaging of every kind and then problem with rubbish removal London appears. Everything comes in a disposable bag, very little is reused and almost nothing is repaired.
It is easy to blame supermarkets and manufacturers for the problem. Quite rightly we ask why everything we buy is packaged in multiple layers and automatically put into a new plastic bas at the check out and why products seem designed to fall apart after we have used them only few times. But how many people actually remember to take a basket or reusable bag when they head off to the shops?
We need to think about what we can do to reduce our own waste mountaines after that about wright way of rubbish clearance. When you are sorting your waste for recycling - as I'm sure you do - why not start by seeing how much you could do without in the first place. A European law restricting the amount of biodegradable waste they can take. This means they don't actually want more material that rots.
